Ahh... What a great ending to a wonderful summer! Carrie and I went with Emilee, Austin and Megan, to the Collin Raye/Josh Gracin concert to celebrate the transition of UVSC to UVU.
Sitting on a comfortable blanket, enjoying the warm summer evening, watching the orange sunset, listening to country music, while surrounded by half our family, is a blessing that's hard to explain. Life just doesn't get any better than this!
Oops... Yes it does--if you have the rest of your family sitting on the blanket with you. We missed out on having Chris, Sadie and Jace with us. Chris was working for Pinnicale Securities in Virginia Beach and couldn't come home with Emilee for the visit. Dang! Sadie is a paramedic in Las Vegas and was unable to come to Utah for our visit from San Diego. Jace is living with our good friends, the Wortley's, because he wants to finish his senior year of high school in Bountiful. He too couldn't make our evening out.
It's hard to believe that all of our kids are now adults and living away from home. Carrie and I are TOO young to be empty-nesters! So, it is opportunities like these, where we can get together with our kids, where we find happiness and fulfillment in our lives. Despite not having our entire family there, this is one of life's great moments that will live with us for years to come. It's amazing how some of the happiest times of our lives come from such small events.
